My most recent big make! Simplicity and Raine Emery pattern S3094 in a lovely starry blue theme. I LOVED making this one (yes, even the corset lining that I had to remake FOUR TIMES) and I loved wearing it even more! I wore it twice to the Oregon renaissance faire and got SO many compliments on it, which felt really nice after struggling on some parts of it and going through the mental battle that every sewist faces: is it good enough? Can everyone see that mistake? Will my seams hold?

But it all worked out, I made it to the end of the faire before the corset seam gave out, and now I have until next year to fix it up. 💙🤍

Fiddling around with some different camera angles to show off my knitting :)

Also showing the importance of the following when working with yarn:
- get all your yarn skeins from the same dye lot
- know how much you’re going to need so you can get it in the same dye lot
- alternate skeins to avoid color pooling or unwanted striping

It’s a little tough to see, but in the last photo, the teal colors are slightly different between the 4th and 5th rows down. Luckily this is where I’ll be folding the hem, so you won’t be able to see the split in color, but this is why it’s important to do what I mentioned above! Especially if you’re making something that’s all one color and want to avoid weird splotches of off-color.

Meet the “Dynomite Sweater”!

It’s been a few months since I started this project, but the end result is SO worth it. The hours I spent on it were mostly during other activities, which include sitting in the classroom listening to lecture, riding passenger in a Penske truck, and watching a multitude of movies and shows.

It was originally a personal make, but I’ve grown to accept that it just isn’t my color. I would love for it to find a home with somebody who will treasure it! (Fits from women’s size S to M as the cuffs are a little too tight to be a L.) So let me know if you know that person 😉

Added some lace trim to my ballgown-esque dress to spice it up for the upcoming ren faire. Will it stay? Who knows? I may get tired of it and rip it out the night before the faire, or I may add more to the dress and make it *fancy*. We shall see 👀

I found this New Stand Up Zip Bag pattern by Tracy Hickey at Piece by Piece Fabrics in Eugene - and I am now OBSESSED 😍 I have about five other floral fabrics that I want to make into these bags.

I got a shoebox full of zippers from my mom a while ago (thanks @mountainsalsa ) and this is the PERFECT way to use some of them up! The bags are so adorable and useful and there are three size options, plus instructions for making your own size with any odd-sized zippers you may have.

Perhaps a good sale item? Let me know if you’d buy one? 🥰

Last year I was selected to test knit the ‘Victorian V-Neck’ sweater for @sierra_nevadaaa - here it is! I edited the sleeves a bit after finishing the test, since I wanted some sort of design in the plain maroon. It’s sooooo soft and cozy, and even the buttons are covered in a knit cap! 🧶

Meet the tablecloth dress! Cut from a rather large round tablecloth, this dress started as a simple skirt and grew from there.

I used some really fun white heart shaped buttons that I found at Joann’s. It’s giving Valentine’s Day date, no?

It doesn’t fit me quite right, so perhaps this piece will go for sale at some point…. But for now, she’ll just sit on the mannequin and look pretty. 😁

This is my new space for my ✨crafty gal✨ creations that I want to share with you all! I’ll share fun photos of in-progress and finished works, as well as some details of the crafts.

First up is my undergrad honors thesis quilt! It’s a sampler quilt made of 99 different 6x6” blocks and goes along with my written thesis on quilting & femininity in the PNW. I estimate just under 100 hours total for the work I put in on this massive beauty, and it was SO worth it. 😁🪡
